JITO Ladies Wing, Bengaluru South, under its flagship Saksham initiative for women empowerment, and in association with JITO Ladies Wing Apex and KKG Zone, successfully organized the national-level online workshop ‘Master the Scoop’ on Zoom on 22nd May 2023. The special summer session drew around 300 enthusiastic participants from across India and overseas, reflecting the growing interest in skill-based learning and home entrepreneurship.
Chairperson Smt. Babita Raysoni welcomed the dignitaries and participants, describing the workshop as a perfect blend of learning, creativity, and self-employment. She highlighted how Saksham aims to equip women with practical skills that can be transformed into sustainable livelihoods.
KKG Zone Convener Smt. Pinky Jain stressed the rising demand for homemade, preservative-free, and healthy alternatives, urging women to prioritize wellness in daily food choices. KKG Zone Chairman Shri Praveen Bafna addressed the commercial aspect, positioning artisanal ice cream making as a low-investment, high-potential business opportunity for women seeking financial independence.
Apex Chairperson Smt. Sheetal Dugar drew attention to a critical yet overlooked issue: the use of artificial colors, stabilizers, and non-vegetarian ingredients like gelatin in commercial ice creams. She emphasized the need for informed consumption and the value of preparing safe, hygienic treats at home.
Renowned culinary & bakery expert and trainer Smt. Sandhya Singh Moga, introduced by Convener Smt. Arpita Ladhani, led the hands-on session. She demystified the process by teaching participants how to prepare rich, creamy ice creams without machines, churners, or gelatin. The live demonstrations included Classic Vanilla, indulgent Double Chocolate, seasonal Mango, and an array of fruit-based variations. Smt. Moga also shared professional tips on achieving perfect texture, balancing flavors, creative presentation, costing, and packaging for small-scale ventures.
The workshop was seamlessly hosted by Chief Secretary Smt. Nidhi Palrecha, while the interactive Q&A session was efficiently managed by MC member Smt. Angeikaa Bafna, ensuring all participant queries were addressed.
Participants lauded the workshop as an inspiring mix of knowledge, creativity, and practical learning. Many expressed excitement about trying the recipes with family and exploring ice cream making as a part-time business. True to the spirit of Saksham, ‘Master the Scoop’ empowered women to turn a simple summer delight into a skill for self-reliance and entrepreneurship.
