The JITO Hosapete Chapter successfully organized an awareness program titled “Smart Nutrition with Millets” on 22nd March 2026 at Priyadarshani Pride Lawn, Hosapete. The event featured renowned millet expert Dr. Khadar Valli, who delivered an insightful session on healthy living through traditional food practices.
The program witnessed a remarkable gathering of nearly 700 participants, including dignitaries from various communities, medical professionals, media representatives, and attendees from neighboring towns. Members from organizations such as Rotary and JC were also present, making the event diverse and impactful.
The event commenced with a nutritious millet-based breakfast, giving participants a practical introduction to millet consumption.Dr. Khadar Valli explained that the growing prevalence of lifestyle diseases is mainly due to unhealthy eating habits, particularly the consumption of refined and processed foods. He emphasized that these diseases are largely preventable and are directly linked to modern dietary patterns rather than unavoidable medical conditions.
He highlighted that Siridhanya (ancient millets) have strong medicinal properties and can help manage and even reverse lifestyle diseases. Along with millets, he stressed that ambali (a fermented millet-based drink) and kasaya (a decoction made from natural vegetables and leaves) possess powerful healing properties and can support the body in curing diseases naturally while boosting immunity.
Dr. Valli recommended adopting disciplined food habits, such as including millets in daily meals, especially breakfast. He also suggested natural practices like sun gazing—30 minutes before sunrise and 30 minutes after sunrise—as a way to gain significant health benefits, promoting overall well-being and natural healing.
The program witnessed participation from a large number of people, including community leaders, doctors, and members from various organizations. Attendees appreciated the session and showed keen interest in adopting millet-based diets.
The event concluded with an engaging interaction Q & A session, where attendees clarified their doubts and gained deeper insights into healthy living. The program was highly informative and inspired many participants to adopt millet-based diets for better health and well-being.
