Self Defense Training Workshop for Women

The JITO Bangalore South Chapter successfully hosted a "Self-Defence Workshop for Women" at C.B. Bhandari Jain College, K R Road, Bangalore, on February 8, 2025, where it was also the venue partner. The event began with the recitation of the Navkar Mantra and the lighting of the lamp.

Shri Nitin Lunia, Chief Secretary of JITO Bangalore South, highlighted JITO's leading role in society, focusing on education, service, and economic empowerment. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about self-defense and equip women with practical safety measures.

Smt. Komal Bhandari, Secretary of JITO Bangalore South and Event Convener, said that considering the current scenario, self-safety for women in today's world is a must and one should be self-reliant. The program was specifically designed with the safety of women in mind.

A panel discussion on women's safety featured Shri Vikas Kumar, IPS - Additional Commissioner of Police, Bangalore (West); Smt. Sarah Fatima, IPS - Deputy Commissioner of Police, South East Division; Lieutenant Colonel Shri Adarsh; and Trainer & Speaker Shri Franklin Joseph, CEO of the Indian Institute of Strategic Threat Intelligence Analysis & Combat Tactical Science. The discussion, moderated by Shri Vikas Jain, covered effective self-defence measures and vigilance.

Shri Vikas Kumar, IPS, emphasized that self-defence is not just about safety but also about self-reliance and confidence. Smt. Sarah Fatima, IPS, and Lt. Col. Shri Adarsh stressed the importance of women being self-reliant and vigilant, stating that self-defence skills will enable them to face any situation.

Trainer & Speaker Shri Franklin Joseph taught women practical and effective self-defence skills, explaining simple yet useful measures to handle dangerous situations. He said, "Women's inner strength is unique and enables them to face any challenge." He provided hands-on training in self-defence techniques, boosting the participants' confidence.

During the Q&A session, members asked queries about women's safety and self-defence techniques, which were answered by the experts with practical solutions to their complete satisfaction. The panellists and trainer were honoured with mementos by the dignitaries of the JITO Bangalore South Chapter.

The workshop concluded with Franklin Joseph addressing participants' concerns and doubts. The event was a successful initiative to empower women with self-defence, safety, and self-reliance. Participants found it inspiring and extremely useful. The effort of the JITO Bangalore South Chapter was appreciated by the members, and similar events are expected in the future. The program was attended by 250 plus members.
